pharmaceutical ampoule washing sealing machine

Product Description
Product Overview

This pharmaceutical ampoule filling machine is tuned for the 5–10ml segment, the dominant format for infusion-type injections, antibiotics and pain-management drugs. The washing, sterilizing and sealing stations are dimensioned for mid-size ampoule geometry, giving better stability in the star wheels and a more consistent flame seal than universal machines. It delivers 8,000–10,000 pcs/h with ±0.5% filling accuracy.

Problem

Mid-size ampoules (5–10ml) have a larger liquid volume and heavier glass wall than small formats, so they need longer sealing residence time and stronger washing energy. Lines optimized for 1–2ml ampoules either seal 10ml ampoules incompletely or slow down dramatically, creating a bottleneck. Operators also struggle with the higher thermal mass of the neck, which cools unevenly and produces hairline cracks visible only during leak testing.

Cause

The sealing quality problem is thermal: a 10ml ampoule neck has roughly twice the glass mass of a 2ml ampoule, so the same flame profile heats the outer wall while the inner wall stays cooler. Uneven temperature distribution creates internal stress and micro-cracks. Washing suffers from a similar scaling issue when nozzle arrays are sized for small ampoules and cannot cover the longer 10ml body.

Solution

This machine sizes every station for 5–10ml geometry: taller washing nozzles cover the full body length, and the sealing station uses a two-stage burner sequence that pre-heats the neck then applies the fusion flame, equalizing the temperature through the glass wall. A post-seal annealing micro-zone relieves internal stress, cutting crack-related rejects. The result is a stable seal rate above 99.5% at full speed on 5–10ml ampoules.

Key Features
  • 5–10ml optimized geometry: taller washing nozzles and star wheel pockets matched to mid-size ampoules
  • Two-stage sealing burner: pre-heat + fusion flame equalizes temperature across the glass wall
  • Post-seal stress relief: micro-annealing zone reduces hairline cracks from thermal shock
  • ±0.5% filling accuracy: servo-driven ceramic pistons sized for 5–10ml doses
  • Sterilizing integration: dry-heat tunnel option for depyrogenation at 300–350°C
  • Seal rate above 99.5%: verified by continuous leak test sampling at the line exit

Applications

This machine targets the 5–10ml injectable segment: antibiotics, analgesics, anti-emetics, electrolytes and infusion concentrates. It is the standard format for hospital-use injections where a single dose is 5–10ml, and for veterinary injectables in the same volume range. The washing-to-sealing integration suits plants upgrading from semi-automatic lines and requiring a documented aseptic chain.

The machine also handles 3ml and 20ml ampoules with reduced efficiency, giving producers flexibility when demand shifts between formats.

Selection Guide

Confirm the dominant format in your portfolio: if more than 70% of volume is 5–10ml, this dedicated machine beats a universal line on both speed and seal quality. Second, estimate the peak output you need, because the 8-head version runs 8,000 pcs/h while the 10-head version reaches 10,000 pcs/h. Third, decide on the sterilizing tunnel now or later; the machine is prepared with the interface, but retrofitting inside a cleanroom is more expensive. Finally, check your ampoule glass specification, since tubing glass and molded glass have different wall-thickness tolerances that affect the sealing recipe.

FAQ

Q: Why do 10ml ampoules crack during sealing on other machines?

The thick neck of a 10ml ampoule needs gradual heating; a single high-intensity flame heats the outer wall faster than the inner wall, creating thermal stress. Our two-stage burner with pre-heat and post-seal annealing keeps the temperature gradient below the glass stress limit.

Q: Can this machine also run 20ml ampoules?

Yes, at reduced speed (about 6,000 pcs/h) using optional larger star wheels and a stronger burner set. If 20ml is a major part of your volume, we recommend the dedicated 20ml configuration instead.

Q: How is seal integrity verified?

A sampling station at the line exit performs dye ingress or vacuum leak tests every 30 minutes, and an optional 100% online pressure-leak module can be added for critical products. Typical defect rates are below 0.5%.

Q: What sterilization documentation is provided?

We supply temperature distribution mapping reports, IQ/OQ protocols and a validation master plan template for the dry-heat tunnel, aligned with USP and EP requirements.

Packaging & Quality Assurance

Every machine is test-run with water and dummy ampoules for 72 hours before packing, and a sealed calibration report is shipped with the unit. The machine is wrapped in anti-rust film and secured in an export-grade wooden case with foam inserts, suitable for sea or air freight. We supply CE, GMP and ISO 9001 documentation, a 12-month warranty on parts, and lifetime remote technical support. On-site installation, operator training and IQ/OQ/PQ validation assistance are available on request.
